This Is the Crazy Secret to Beyoncé’s Met Gala Ponytail
When Beyoncé made her fashionably late arrival at last week’s Met Gala, all eyes were on that totally see-through Givenchy dress. But after you got over the shock of being able to see Bey’s rock solid bod in all its envy-inducing glory, it was that sky-high ponytail that demanded your attention, admit it. You would think that a look as iconic as this took some serious beauty planning, but it seems that was not the case.
Beyoncé’s hairstylist Neal Farinah, tells US Weekly that her locks were originally wrapped up in an Asian-inspired chignon. Then as they were making their way out of Bey’s NY apartment she said the look felt too costume-like. (You just have to love that Beyoncé intuition.)
Farinah explains, “We were in the elevator on the way down, and she looks at me and says ‘Neal, I want to change my hair, will you change my hair?’ And I said, ‘Honey, there could be cameras in the elevator.’ She says, ‘You have five minutes.’ And I said, ‘Girl, what do you want me to do with the hair?’ And she wanted a high ponytail. With Beyoncé, she looks at herself and she says, ‘This isn’t right, let’s change it.'”
And just like that, the high pony of the year was created using nothing but the reflection of an elevator door.
P.S. If you are as obsessed with this sassy pony as much as we are, check our tutorial on how to copy the look (no elevator or celebrity hairstylist required).
