See How the ‘Big Little Lies’ Cast Celebrated the End of Filming Season 2
Fact: The Big Little Lies cast is crazy tight. Whether they’re supporting each other’s non-BLL projects (like when they went as a group to see Shailene Woodley’s Adrift) or just singing each other’s praises (like when Nicole Kidman couldn’t stop gushing about Meryl Streep), the women on the show are not shy about showing their love for one another. So when they wrapped filming on season 2 last week, they celebrated with some very public displays of affection on social media.
Although the highly anticipated second season won’t hit HBO until 2019, shooting wrapped on Friday, August 17. To mark the occasion, Reese Witherspoon and Nicole Kidman took to Instagram to share some behind-the-scenes photos and reminisce about their time on set.
Witherspoon posted a collage of snaps showing the cast hanging out, goofing around, and even bowling. “Feeling so grateful to my #BigLittleLies family on our last day of shooting Season 2!” she captioned the series of photos. “You have all inspired me, supported me, made me laugh and cry. Making the second season even more exciting than the last (I can’t wait for y’all to see it!!). Thank you @HBO and our amazing director Andrea Arnold! Big love to my sisters, @nicolekidman, @lauradern, @shailenewoodley, @zoeisabellakravitz and #MerylStreep.”
Meanwhile, Kidman, who recently revealed she’s adapting yet another book from author Liane Moriarty, shared a snap of herself wearing an awesome sweater featuring the names of the show’s female characters. (Seriously, where can we get one?)
“That’s a wrap on #BigLittleLies Season 2 filming! What a beautiful journey this has been with my Monterey 5 sisters and our passionate dedicated crew,” she wrote. “Thank you HBO for the amazing opportunity and thank you Andrea Arnold for being our fearless leader, and of course the one and only Meryl Streep for believing in us. I love you all. xx”
Laura Dern, for her part, posted a photo of herself wearing a shirt with her character’s name on it, writing, “Andrea Arnold. Wrapping our Big Little Lies journey today. Loving you and my tribe of sisters.”
