This Is Proof the ‘Big Little Lies’ Ladies Are Just as Excited as We Are About Meryl Streep Joining Season 2
On Wednesday, HBO announced that Oscar-winning actress Meryl Streep would be upping the star power of Big Little Lies by joining the show for season 2. The news was cause for major excitement not only from fans, but from the women who already star in the show, and the love they’ve been sending Streep on social media has us feeling all types of ways.
“Welcome to the #BigLittleLies family Ms. Streep — can’t wait xx,” Nicole Kidman (AKA Celeste) captioned a photo of herself with the Hollywood legend. Streep is set to play the mother of Alexander Skarsgard’s character — AKA Kidman’s mother-in-law — in season 2.

Reese Witherspoon (AKA Madeline), who, along with Kidman, not only stars in the show but executive produces, had her own warm welcome for Streep. “Get ready for more wine, secrets, and #BigLittleLies. Monterey better watch out!!!” she captioned a photo of herself and Streep smiling for the camera.
And Laura Dern (AKA Renata) couldn’t contain her excitement, writing, “Well, now my acting dream has come true,” as she shared a glamorous black-and-white portrait of Streep.
Streep’s character on BLL season 2, Mary Louise Wright, is said to be coming to Monterey to care for her grandchildren and “ for answers” after the — spoiler alert — death of her son, Perry.
The news of a second season was a big deal for fans, who were excited that the show would expand on the original story from the novel by writer Liane Moriarty. Unfortunately for us, the show won’t actually air until 2019. But something tells us the wait will be worth it.
