Is Blake Lively Jumping on the Unisex Baby Name Trend?
Ever since Blake gave birth to a baby girl back in December, we’ve been not-so-patiently waiting for the couple to announce the newborn’s name. We got wind of a rumor that the baby’s name was Violet, but then Ryan recently shot that down in an interview with USA Today. Reynolds reported, “No, that’s not the name. I don’t want to get into that but I don’t know where that came from.” He didn’t even crack after a thorough, albeit comic interrogation by David Letterman.
But now E! has announced that a source exclusively revealed to them that the baby’s name is… James! Much different than Violet, but pretty great all the same. This wouldn’t be the first unique unisex name we’ve heard as of late. Shakira also recently announced that she named her new baby boy Sasha.
We really hoped the Hollywood couple would announce the name in some kind of clever way, but Reynolds made it clear on his appearance on the Late Show that they had no plans to do so. He told Letterman, “I don’t want to say it [his baby’s name] in a media context. I tell everyone who I meet so it’ll come out.”
We’re certainly weary of info from mysterious sources after the last name was determined to be false, however we have pieced together a few bits of info that seem to make this rumored name very promising. In that interview with Letterman Reynolds confirmed that it was a biblical name, and James does have Hebrew origins. He also told Letterman that it was indeed a family name, and Ryan father’s name is Jim (commonly short for James).
Has B+C cracked the case? Who knows! But here’s to hoping.
