But before experiencing the joy of 3 a.m. screams, seemingly impossible amounts of poop and having a favorite shirt covered in reflux… there are presents to open, onesies to dye, there is cake to serve, advice to be shared and all around celebration to be had.”

It seems like no detail was overlooked at the rustic outdoor affair. Garlands and lanterns formed an orange and gold canopy above a wooden dining table overflowing with fall fare and decked out with shabby chic decor — think: apple-filled apothecary jars and mismatched dishes.
As grown-up guests presented Blake with a flower-topped cake and toasted the mom-to-be with seasonal sips (of course there were party straws involved), the younger set had fun frolicking with balloons through a maze of paper-lantern bags. It’s the fall fete of our dreams, and one that’s doable this season with a little bit of DIY know-how.

Inspired by the Preserve party, here’s a little checklist of what it takes to throw a Blake-approved bash for the new mom in your life — or to keep in mind for any autumnal event you’re throwing:
1. ParDIYs: Blake + pals tie dyed onesies in dreamy fall hues. Here’s how to get the look for your mini using indigo dye!
2. Classic Party Decor: Try these Blake baby shower essentials to upgrade any fall soiree to Instagram-worthy levels: tassel garland, balloons, piñatas and party straws.
3. Home-Baked Cake: Present the guest-of-honor with a perfectly frosted layer cake that YOU made — it is possible, and only takes 35 minutes to learn to bake like a pro. Try one of our ombre cake recipes in your favorite hues to really get jaws dropping.
4. Feast on All Things Fall-Flavored: Blake’s menu included everything from the traditionally tasty — like the ultimate pumpkin pie and pumpkin swirl brownies — to the majorly festive — try candy corn jello shots and spooky monster cupcakes.
