Uh Oh. Blake Lively Is Catching Serious Heat For Her Cannes Instagram Post
Blake Lively has been busy working her way through Cannes, stunning in everything from French girl casual chic to Disney-inspired outfits (check out her top five outfits of the festival), and has been sharing every moment of it via her Instagram account. But now Blake has shared a pic with an accompanying caption that has some peeps pretty peeved.
Posting a pic of herself in her gold Cannes dress, the pic shows two shots of Blake, one from the front and the other from the back. The actress captioned the images, “L.A. face with an Oakland booty.” Sooo, we know she was trying to be funny and yes, the caption is lyrics lifted directly from Sir Mix-A-Lot’s ’90s standard “Baby Got Back,” but not everyone is laughing. In fact, many are calling the caption “racially insensitive” and “tone deaf.”

One commenter broke it down, explaining, “This quote is offensive because it adheres to the hegemonic hypersexualization of Black/Latina bodies. Why can’t she have an Oakland face? It continues to perpetrate the myth that women of color all have big butts and large breasts.” Another wrote, “Another day, another rich white woman using [Women of Color’s] bodies as a punchline and commodity.” Sounds like girlfriend’s landed herself in some hot water there.
Blake hasn’t addressed the controversy or removed the offending pic, but instead has since posted a pic of her jewels that she’s sporting at Cannes with the caption, “Bibbidi Bobbidi Bling.” Hmm… maybe you should stick to Cinderella-related posts there, Blake?
