Make Dad Happy With Mini Bourbon Bacon Red Velvet Donuts
Who’s ready for Father’s Day?! This year, show Dad how much you heart him with some homemade goodies. Our recommendation? Mini Bourbon Bacon Red Velvet Donuts! (Say that five times fast.) Read on for the easy recipe!
Ingredients:
— 1 pound thick-cut bacon
— brown sugar
— cayenne pepper
— black pepper
— 1 box red velvet cake mix
— 3 eggs
— 2 Tablespoons bourbon
— 1/4 cup vegetable oil
— 1/2 cup water
— powdered sugar
Instructions:
1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Lay the bacon on the parchment in a single layer. Sprinkle with brown sugar, cayenne pepper and black pepper. Bake for 15-20 minutes, until golden and crispy. Remove from the oven and let cool. Chop bacon into small pieces and set aside.
2. Lower the oven temperature to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. In a large bowl, mix together the red velvet cake mix, eggs, bourbon, vegetable oil and water. Spoon batter into a greased mini donut pan. Bake for 10 minutes. Let cool.
3. In a small bowl, combine powdered sugar with a few tablespoons of water to make a glaze for your donuts. Dip each donut in glaze and then dip in bacon pieces. Enjoy!
