Update Your Brunch With These Sweet and Savory Breakfast Potstickers
When you hear "breakfast" you might not think of potstickers, but considering breakfast is my favorite meal, I decided to take on the challenge of combining them. Breakfast food is phenomenal, but it’s the whole morning experience that I am obsessed with. I love sunny and warm morning light, lounging in PJs and all foods that require syrup and eggs. I have told all my friends (and now all of you B+C readers) that when I get engaged, it had better happen over breakfast in bed — with warm morning light (of course) and the dogs that me and my future boyfriend/fiancé will have together.
Now to get back to the point of this article — breakfast potstickers are where it’s at! Whether you eat them with chopsticks or on a stick, potstickers are one of my favorite appetizers, so I decided to give them a breakfast revamp. Follow along below to learn how to make these sweet and savory morning treats.
Egg + Sausage Potstickers
Ingredients:
- scrambled eggs
- crumbled sausage
- shredded cheese
- everything bagel seasoning
- potsticker wrappers
Making potstickers is super easy, but very time consuming. I suggest inviting some friends over to chit-chat the time away while stuffing and crimping potstickers.
Add a little bit of all your ingredients inside the potsticker wrapper. Add water to the edges, fold the wrapper in half and crimp the edges to create a tight seal.
Stuff, crimp, and chit-chat the time away.
Fruit Potstickers
Ingredients
- raspberries
- blueberries
- strawberries
- lemon zest
- potsticker wrappers
Same drill here. Add the mixed fruit into the wrapper, wet the edges, and then seal.
*Note: The fruit cooks down a lot, so really seal the edges of these potstickers.
French Toast Potstickers
Ingredients:
- French toast
- cinnamon
- brown sugar
- potsticker wrappers
- cream cheese frosting
Cut up your French toast into small cubes and then add on to the wrapper. Top with a small pinch of cinnamon and a larger pinch of brown sugar. Add water to the edges and crimp shut.
These are addicting, so make as many as you can :)
Add a tablespoon of vegetable oil to a non-stick pan, wait ’til it heats up, and then add in potstickers.
Add 1/4 cup of water, cover and turn the stove down to a simmer. Cook for about seven minutes.
Potstickers — get in my belly!
Finish off each potsticker with their topping. Roll the egg and sausage potstickers in everything bagel seasoning. You can buy it pre-made or follow this recipe.
Top the fruit potstickers with a dusting of powdered sugar and some lemon zest.
And now for our favorite — drizzle cream cheese frosting on top of the French toast potstickers.
Call all your pals over for this buffet of sweet and savory treats.
These bite-sized dumplings make the perfect appetizer for a morning baby shower.
Yup, I’m most definitely going back for seconds.
