Halloween Costume Ideas the Whole Family Will Love

Halloween Costume Ideas the Whole Family Will Love

Halloween is one of the most fun times of the year, but it can also be super stressful when you've got kids. "What should I dress my kids up as?" or "Should I buy or DIY?" are just a few of the questions that come to mind once fall starts to set in. This Halloween, Dave and I decided to make our holiday prep a little more efficient for us and our two sons, Austin and Ansel, with three different easy, family-friendly Halloween costume ideas for my crew. Scroll through for all the Halloween costume inspiration.
The Incredibles: Procrastinators rejoice! This entire costume can be purchased from Amazon Prime! You will need to buy a red long-sleeve shirt, red leggings or tights, black underwear, a black eye mask, and black gloves for each family member. Print out the Incredible's logo onto photo transfer paper and iron onto the center of the shirt. Assemble your outfit, with underwear on the outside of course, and top it off with gold ribbon as a belt and black boots.
Ready to save the day. And eat *ALL* the candy.
"Leave the saving of the world to the men? I don't think so."
Saved by the Bell: '90s lovers, it's time to introduce your little ones to everything magical about this nostalgic show. Mom jeans, leftover' 80s hair, and really large cordless phones. Keep clicking for the how-to.
For Screech's look, you'll want to head to your local thrift store and pick up a Hawaiian shirt, pleated pants, and suspenders. Finish off the look with a curly afro wig if you aren't lucky enough to have that beautiful hair. Kelly Kapowski's look is pretty simple — high-waisted mom jeans, white crop top, and black suspenders. Tease your hair to one side and let it swoop to achieve that side bang. Finish off the style with simple white sneakers. We dressed the kiddos as Zack Morris and AC Slater. For these, we pieced together items from their closets and thrift store finds. For Zack, you'll want a light pair of jeans, a jean shirt, and, of course, a large inflatable phone that you can find on Amazon. AC Slater is pretty easy because he is normally seen without a shirt on. We dressed up Ansel in light colored jeans and a Hawaiian shirt left unbuttoned. Our dog Pixel even joined the party in a Hawaiian dog shirt!
Toy Story: This is the perfect family costume for a family of any size, since there are endless characters to choose from. For specifics, scroll through.
For Woody's outfit, we used a red Sharpie to add grid lines to a yellow button-down shirt. Purchase a white vest and deck it out with black patches to create a cow print pattern. Finish the look with jeans, a brown cowboy hat, brown cowboy boots, red bandana, and brown gun holster. Jessie's outfit is so fun to make. The base of the costume is a pair of bell-bottom jeans and a white button-down shirt. Use white and black felt to create the cow print on the bottom of the jeans. Use yellow and red felt to create the motif on the top of the white button-down. Pair this costume with a red wig, red cowboy hat, brown belt, and brown cowboy boots. To make Mr. Potato Head you will just need a bunch of felt to create the body and face and then a white long-sleeve shirt, blue leggings, and a top hat to make the character come to life. Since Austin is only one he can be a little fussy in a costume, so we just bought a basic Buzz Lightyear onesie from Amazon.
"You've got a friend in me."
