Here’s What Tinted Brows Look Like on a Blonde + a Brunette
I’ll admit it: I’m an eyebrow fanatic. I am obsessed AF with having the best brows possible and will stop at nothing to get there. Threading is my preferred maintenance method — I love how precisely it shapes my brows — and I spend at least 10 minutes every day filling them in with my favorite brow products until they’re looking on point.
But the time has come for me to move on to something more serious when it comes to brow maintenance. After having my eyelashes dyed and permed by the lovely ladies at Eye Candy SF, I headed back there with my coworker Brittany Griffin (one of Brit + Co’s fab photographers) to test their eyebrow expertise. It was time to get tinted.
The Process
Tracy and Selenia from Eye Candy carefully painted our brows with a vegetable-based dye that intentionally touched the skin, as you can see below on Brittany. This service, which costs $30 and lasts about two weeks, resulted in a more defined shape and deeper color than our natural brows.
While the ladies mixed up different shades of the dye based on our individual skin tones and brow hair colors, the process was the same: Kick back while the experts created our ideal shapes, let the dye work its magic for about 30 minutes and then get excited for the big reveal as the dye is gently wiped off with a damp cloth.
When my dye was removed, I immediately saw the difference the tint made in my brows — so did Britt. Instead of spending 10+ minutes defining my brows every damn day, I now simply brush through them with Glossier Boy Brow ($16), and I’m done in about 30 seconds flat.
The Verdict
I am absolutely obsessed with brow tinting now — I’ve been back to see Tracy multiple times to have this service performed because I can’t live without it. You basically leave the salon looking like you have perfectly filled-in brows, so it eliminates the need to use a ton of products to define them when you’re getting ready. It’s shaved off at least 10 minutes from my morning routine, which I am *so* thankful for. Be warned, though: Once you start brow tinting, you might never go back to that bare-browed life. Take it from me!
Here’s what Brittany had to say about her experience:
“Before I got my brows tinted, my eyebrow game was WEAK. I had never touched my eyebrows before this — no tweezing, waxing or anything! I recently started using an eyebrow pencil because I have pretty thick eyebrows, but they are light in color, so I love being able to add a little bit more boldness to them. The tinting service at Eye Candy was wonderful. Tracy and Selenia made me feel like a million bucks! I left the salon with noticeably darker brows, which honestly just looked like a better version of my natural brows. They weren’t too dark but definitely had more shape and definition. After the service, I really liked not having to use an eyebrow pencil. I think if I did this again I would go even darker! For day-to-day wear, I will probably just stick with my pencil, but for special occasions, I’ll definitely turn to eyebrow tinting.”
