Butt Glitter Is the Latest WTF Beauty Trend Taking Over the ‘Net
Last year was ALL about the dreamy rainbow unicorn look: from that now infamous rainbow highlighter, to stunning rainbow hair, 2016 was the year of the unicorn. 2017, however is taking on a whole new realm of sparkle, as glitter fanatics have taken things to a whole other level. With major brands such Urban Decay slaying the fad with their newest topcoat, and more ways to rock glitter makeup than ever before (glitter roots, y’all!), we figured we had our sequined makeup bases covered. But boy, were we ever wrong!
While the beauty product is always a staple for festival season, photographer and self proclaimed “glitter creature,” Mia Kennington believes that the big trend at fests this year will see it worn in one particular area we haven’t seen before (and she’s definitely right on that one!): our tushes.
Calling her look #GlitterBooty, and creating her own crew of glitter loving friends named @TheGypsyShrine, Mia set out to create a brand new craze. In an interview with Cosmopolitan, Kennington said that the group was inspired by a photo shoot in the desert before the Beyond Sahara music festival in Morocco. “We were in bikinis and were getting sand all over our butts anyway, so we were like, ‘Well, what if we enhance this?’ So we just did loads and loads of glitter,” she said.
While logistically, this sounds like a bit of a nightmare, particularly during bathroom breaks, its certainly an interesting way to enhance your assets (see what we did there?)!
We can’t wait to see if more people attach themselves to this trend as festivals happen with more regularity over the next few months.
