Caitlyn Jenner Will Be Wearing a Gold Medal + American Flag in Sports Illustrated
These days Caitlyn Jenner may be making more headlines as a voice for transgender rights, her famous family and her TV show, but it wasn’t so long ago she took home gold for USA at the 1976 Olympics. Celebrating the 40th anniversary of her gold-medal win, Caitlyn will be posing for Sports Illustrated — but you won’t be seeing her sport a swimsuit or casual-cool athleisure wear for this occasion. Caitlyn will be posing in nothing but her gold medal and the American flag.
Back in 1976, Caitlyn set a world decathlon record at the Montreal Summer Games, and in a blog post for the Huffington Post said of the gold medal she earned, “I’m very proud of this. That was a great time in my life. But to be honest with you, it’s even a greater time in my life right now with what I’m trying to accomplish.”
Now, no stranger to groundbreaking magazine spreads, Caitlyn’s 2015 appearance in Vanity Fair was one of the most buzzed about cover pics in the mag’s history. But this time around, the 66-year-old will be posing in the buff. We get the feeling Caitlyn’s taking a cue from her stepdaughter Kim and there will be some Internet-breaking.
A gold medal and a draped flag won’t cover much, but there’s no doubt that Caitlyn and her style team will come up with something epic.
