Car Kit Essentials for Moms *And* Girls on the Go
We’ve all been there: You’re in the car, on the way to an important meeting, event or date, and a mini beautymergency (a beauty emergency, duh) happens. Maybe you spilled coffee on that perfectly ironed white dress. Perhaps your kid got into your red lipstick and now appears clown-like in the backseat of your car, complete with makeup-stained fingers (that are touching everything of course). Whatever your sitch is, it’s so clutch to have a little car kit — like the seriously adorable First Aid Kit by Oh Joy! (exclusively available at Target stores and Target.com) — filled with products that can truly save the day. We’ve teamed up with Johnson & Johnson Consumer Inc. to show you exactly what you need to create your ultimate car kit, whether you’re a busy momma or just a girl on-the-go.
FOR A BUSY MOM
If you’re stuck in the carpool lane or just so busy you can’t keep track of what day it is, you definitely don’t have time to worry about the little things in life that pop up (always at the worst times) unexpectedly. Being prepared with a kit that’s packed with products that can save the day — and your sanity — can seriously be a lifesaver.
BAND-AID® Brand Adhesive Bandages featuring Finding Dory: Having *cute* bandages on hand for when your kid takes a tumble is key. Honestly, if your poor kid needs a Band-Aid, give him/her one they’ll actually want to wear, like ones featuring their favorite characters.
Wet Wipes: These. Are. So. Necessary. Use them to quickly cleanse your hands (or your kid’s face!), wipe down a dirty surface and even get grime off of a gross shopping cart handle.
Cotton Swabs + Pads: You never know when you’ll need a quick touch-up, clean-up… the list goes on. Make sure to have some of these on hand so you can keep yourself (and your little one) looking fresh.
Baby Oil: You can use baby oil for so many different things: to smooth rough skin, to prevent chafing and even to soothe irritated or sunburned skin (just make sure you don’t put this stuff on before you go in the sun). It’s gentle enough to use on your kid but also great to keep around for yourself.
Gentle Moisturizer: A non-irritating, fragrance-free moisturizer can so come in handy. You can use it to hydrate parched skin on you and your child, to remove makeup (just apply it and then wipe it off with a wet cloth) and it can help speed up healing of minor skin abrasions.
Antibacterial Gel: Who knows what kind of germs are hangin’ around your kid these days. Having antibacterial gel on hand is key for when your kid is constantly exposed to other kids who are sick (that’s one of the joys of having a child, right?). Be proactive and break this stuff out any time you hear the sound of a sniffle.
FOR THE GIRL ON-THE-GO
Living a jam-packed life filled with class, work, hobbies and social events means you have barely any time to prepare for the unexpected: A desk-to-dinner shindig that requires a quick touch-up or an impromptu workout class that leaves you wanting to refresh your skin afterward can seriously stress you out. That’s where your go-to car kit comes in handy.
BAND-AID® Brand Adhesive Bandages by Oh Joy!: Um, did someone say ADORABLE Band-Aids?! You might find an excuse to put one of these colorful, eye-catching bandages on because they’re that cute. Okay — don’t go out there and try to scrape your knee or anything — but do open your eyes to the fact that a Band-Aid can totally be an accessory ;)
Body Spray: If you’re running between classes, meetings and social activities, chances are you won’t have time to freshen up. Keep a small body spray in your car kit so you’re always able to feel so fresh and so clean, and smell amazing too.
Hair Brush: It’s not cute to show up somewhere with your hair looking like you just rolled out of bed. Straight up. Keep a brush on hand so you can quickly touch up your locks when they’re messy.
Touch-Up Tools: Being able to give yourself a little pick-me-up is crucial to looking and feeling your best when you’re constantly on the move. Keep some makeup brushes, a nail file, tweezers and bobby pins in your kit so you can quickly refresh your look.
Tissues: Because wiping your nose on the sleeve of your blouse is never acceptable or cute. Keep a small batch of tissues on hand so you’re prepared when you have the sniffles (or have just read a sappy romance novel).
Mirror: A small, portable mirror makes sense to have in your car kit so you can check yourself out after you used your touch-up tools, amirite? It’s also equally as important to not live your life with food in your teeth and smeared mascara on your eyes, so def take a peek in that trusty mirror every so often.
