Carrie Underwood Reveals Which Popular Movie Ruined Her Baby Name Pick
Country singer Carrie Underwood and her husband Nashville Predators centerman Mike Fisher became parents for the first time when they welcomed their little boy back in February of this year. Naturally, like most expectant parents, the American Idol alum and her husband had a running list of potential creative baby names for the kiddo — with a particular top contender getting eliminated with the release of the movie based on E.L. James’ bestseller 50 Shades of Grey. Whew, close one.
In a convo with Hoda Kotb during The Today Show, Carrie reveals that “it was a toss up between Isaiah and Caleb — and Christian was on the list too. That was when 50 Shades of Grey was coming out, like right around the list, and I was like, ‘Christian’s off the list, babe.'” While Jamie Dornan’s portrayal of Christian Grey is absolutely smokin’, not going for that name is totally understandable, Carrie.
The Storyteller singer and her hockey playing husband ended up going with Isaiah for their little one — which turned out to be absolutely the perfect (and unique!) choice. “Some good friends of ours [whom] we hadn’t discussed our names with at all,” Carrie said, “And they had their baby a week after, and they were like, ‘Meet baby Caleb!’ And I was like, ‘Oh my gosh.'”
Thank goodness it all worked out for the best — and Isaiah is a seriously adorable name.
