Many spas around North America are taking the art of relaxation to a whole new level with the addition of cannabis to their range of offerings. From massages, to facials, to aromatic oils and creams, wellness centers are embracing the healing powers of hemp. Best of all, these treatments use only cannabidiol (AKA CBD), the non-psychoactive cannabinoid extract from the hemp plant, so you don’t have to worry about getting high — or a case of the munchies — to indulge. Here are spas presently offering an alternative way to unwind.
Ste. Anne Spa
One of the few spas featuring cannabis treatments in Canada also happens to be one of the country’s most acclaimed properties. The new cannabis-infused Canna Massage offers guests herbal rejuvenation using essential oils infused with CBD, which has pain-relieving and anti-inflammatory qualities. As part of the massage, guests receive a full-size bottle of Ste. Anne’s Rest Aromatherapy Oil, to ensure they can recapture that oh-so-relaxed feeling at home. The spa also has a new line of CBD-infused, organic balms, lotions, and oils that likewise deliver soothing, stress-relieving benefits. After your treatment, if you’re still feeling in need of a little extra de-stressing, Ste. Anne’s has its own stables where guests can enjoy a relaxing horse ride. (Photo via Ste. Sure, it’s hard to believe that one could ever need help to chill out while in Hawaii, but all that beach-hopping can be so taxing, no? Up your unwinding ability with Kahala Hotel’s new Hemp Recovery Remedy. This 90-minute long, incredibly restorative experience features hemp-infused products from MARY’S nutritionals. This signature treatment is designed to restore vigor to muscles and joints, and also incorporates stretching, as well as pressure points, and body massage. Don’t miss the Kahala’s natural ocean-water lagoon with the hotel’s own resident dolphins. (Photo via The Kahala Hotel & Resort)Solage Calistoga
Move over merlot, CBD is the new talk of the town. Right in the heart of Napa Valley — North America’s premier wine region — is where you’ll find this five-star spa. The Spa at Solage is already well-known for its signature Mudslide treatment and now it’s added CBD to the mix. Guests can request that a rejuvenating 30-minute arm and face mask with Healthy Lotus CBD oil be added to any spa service. Or really indulge and add CBD oil to the Mellow Me Out package, which includes a complete body exfoliation, shea butter massage, foot rejuvenation, and a scalp and hair renewal. Top the experience off with the spa’s CBD-infused cocktail. (Photo via Solage Calistoga)Griffin Gate Marriott Resort & Spa
Surrounded by picture-perfect horse farms, distilleries, and race tracks, you’ll get an authentic Kentucky CBD experience at the Griffin Gate Marriott Resort & Spa. Guests can enhance any spa service with locally-harvested bluegrass hemp oil, which supports pain recovery and intense muscle relaxation. Athletes, overworked moms, and travel-tired globetrotters will love how CBD oil intensifies popular treatments like the Integrated Therapy Massage, which features a well-honed blend of deep-tissue massage, trigger point therapy, and stretching to ease stiff muscles. Throw in some warm compresses and Yoga Balm (with seven different healing oils) and your mood and energy levels are sure to be elevated. (Photo via Griffin Gate Marriott Resort & Spa )Terranea Resort
The award-winning spa at Terranea just introduced a CBD Massage to its repertoire of unique healing treatments. Thanks to the use of cannabidiol, the massage is said to alleviate anxiety, and decrease pain and inflammation, while super-charging the immune system and promoting restorative sleep. What makes the Spa at Terranea especially unique is its fusion of wellness and circadian rhythms. Guests’ treatments are aligned with nature’s natural circadian rhythms and are adjusted depending on what hour of day you visit. Perhaps the most calming element of the 50,000 square foot indoor/outdoor spa is its incredible ocean views that you can take full advantage of from one of the facility’s private hot tubs. If your bliss could use a boost, a trip to the spa at Casa Marina is certain to do the trick. They recently partnered with Da Crema Botanical, a company that specializes in hemp healing products, to offer the medicinal relaxation powers of cannabidiol to their guests. Spa-goers can add CBD oil to any massage or reflexology treatment to chillax at a cellular level. Of course, having any kind of massage outdoors in one of Casa Marina’s beachside private cabanas with the sounds of the sea in the background is a sure-fire way to rev-up anyone’s relaxation. Is LA’s legendary terrible traffic giving you headaches and a stiff back? Then you may want to step into the Ritz. The Ritz-Carlton Spa offers guests three choices of CBD treatments that are intended to encourage hydration and decrease moisture loss and inflammation. For the CBD Healing Massage, guests have the option of starting their therapy with a drop of a CBD tincture under the tongue to promote a sense of well-being. The tincture is followed by a full-body massage incorporating up to five hemp-based products. The CBD Pedicure features the choice of two cannabidiol-infused bath bomb soaks and the CBD Facial helps ease skin inflammation. (Photo via The Ritz-Carlton, Los Angeles)Park Hyatt Beaver Creek
The quaint town of Beaver Creek offers much to soothe the soul and now there’s an option to soothe the body as well. The resort’s 30,000 square foot Allegria Spa (complete with fitness center, slope-side pool, and hot tubs) features a 50- or 80-minute CBD-infused Massage. The treatment is a delightfully slow yet firm, deeply moisturizing massage using cell-communicating CBD to relax your body and mind. If you’re in Beaver Creek to ski, be sure to complement the massage with the resort’s Colorado Wild Rose Cure, which uses warm rose compresses to relax the nervous system and an oh-so-lovely lavender bath of essential oils.
