Jen is the poster child of a style & beauty junkie — from the latest eyeshadow palette launch to the wildest moments from NYFW, she's one of the first to know about it. As a proud public school graduate from SUNY New Paltz, her work has been featured in top publications such as PAPER Magazine, INSIDER, and COOLS. When she's not swatching the latest highlighters and lipsticks, she's busy being a cat mom, sipping on rosé, and binge-watching Netflix cooking shows.
Celebrity hairstylists know a thing or two about creating long-lasting looks that won’t let up even in the most humid weather. Since we believe good hair days should belong to celebs and non-celebs alike, we tapped Hollywood’s best stylists to share their favorite smoothing, sealing, and locking products. Ahead, shop eight serums, mists, combs, and creams they simply can’t live without.
Cricket Static Free Ponytail Pro ($14): When celebrity hairstylist Scott King, who works with Sabrina Carpenter, wants to create a kink-free bun or ponytail, he reaches for this 2-in-1 brush. "When doing updos on my clients, I always finish by spraying some hairspray on the boar bristle side of the Cricket Ponytail Pro Brush and smooth out any flyaways," King says.
Aloxxi Bombshell Volumizing Grip Styler ($22) Hairstylist Michael Dueñas, who has worked with Harley Quinn Smith, Danielle Knudson, and Rachel Bloom, grabs this volumizing spray whenever he wants to create playful volume. "It provides hold, volume, and grip," he points out. "It's the perfect combination of dry shampoo and hairspray in one. I can spread [strands] to be as voluminous as I want, and at the same time, tame flyaways, with zero weight or stickiness."
Sally Hershberger 24K Golden Touch Nourishing Dry Oil ($40):Sally Hershberger is a master at crafting a faux-messy look, sans frizz or tangles. To smooth locks out without ruining their style, Hershberger, who is the creator of Meg Ryan's iconic shag cut, uses her namesake dry oil to keep every strand intact. "This is my golden touch," she notes. "The formula features a 24K pure gold elixir to help smooth frizz and define the style without any added weight or greasy residue. It also helps protect, rejuvenate, and repair dry, damaged hair so that it looks silky, nourished, and hydrated."
n:p beautiful Miracle Serum ($45): Celebrity hairstylist David Babaii religiously uses his own n:p beautiful's Miracle Serum when he’s creating a red carpet 'do for Angelina Jolie or a casual blowout for Meghan Markle. "Whether my client's hair is fine and straight, curly, thick, or damaged and coarse, this hero product is designed to absorb instantly, leaving [mids and ends] looking and feeling flawless," he says. "I take a small amount and rub into my hands, then I run my fingers through their [tresses] to smooth away strays and add any additional movement or texture."
NatureLab.Tokyo Perfect Shine Oil Mist ($16): Every Kardashian-Jenner adores brand ambassador and hairstylist Andrew Fitzsimons thanks to his ability to create seriously shiny strands. His secret weapon: this hybrid product. "It's an ultra-fine oil mist, so it [creates a beautiful shiny mane] without weighing down the style at all," he says. "I love that it's free of parabens, phthalates, sulfates, and is cruelty-free; all of which are important to my clients."
David Mallett Volume Powder ($40): Celeb hairstylist David Mallett suggests tilting your head upside down and letting your hair fall forward after blowdrying your tresses if the goal is a voluminous, Hollywood glam mane. "Gently massage your roots with your fingers — this is a gentle way of backcombing by exciting/tickling the roots for a softly-blowdried French girl look," he explains. Finish off the look by lightly spraying his go-to finisher — the David Mallett Volume Powder — throughout your roots and mid-lengths to increase fullness and texture, then flick head backwards and finish styling.
Kevin.Murphy FREE.HOLD ($28): As a hairstylist to stars including Dua Lipa and Billie Ellish, Korey Fitzpatrick knows how to create the effortless cool girl look. How? By using this styling cream as a final tussled touch. "I use it on every client no matter what hair type or texture," Fitzpatrick says. "It holds the style, but also lets you change the shape if needed without having to fight with an intense, non-maneuverable product."
Mon Shampoing Sublime Serum ($46): Celebrity hairstylist Jerome Lordet, who works with the likes of Jessica Simpson, Sandra Bullock, and Jessica Biel, can't live without this nourishing serum. "It's infused with keratin and tamanu oil which adapts well to all hair types and seals the cuticles giving a beautiful shine, great texture, and has a wonderful scent," he explains.
