This Celeb Hair Trend Is Perfect for Growing Out Your Bangs
Bangs are a great way to bring dimension and added shape to your face; just a few snips can make a huge impact on your look. But it’s also a major commitment, because hairstyles with bangs require at least a few minutes of styling every day. More often than not, people will get bangs, love them for several months and then consider growing them out (I am guilty of this). That’s why finding stylish, celeb-approved ways to work with your bangs as they grow — or if you just want to switch up your look for a day — is key. You can always pin them back or turn to headbands to keep them out of your face, but a red carpet-ready side braid takes it to the next level (and we’re always up for some easy braided hairstyle inspo). Some of our fave celebs have been rocking the braided-bangs look, with fancy updos and casual styles alike — that’s how versatile this ‘do is. Here are two ways to get on board with braiding your bangs.
Brie Larson showed up for a press conference for Room earlier this week wearing a tightly braided style that kept her face free of flyaways. This look is the perfect balance of intentional style that’s not overly fussy — and it takes less than five minutes to achieve yourself. Just part your hair to the side, braid you hair (make sure you layer each piece of hair *under* your braid instead of on top) halfway down the shaft and then pin into place. Let some strands fall naturally over top of the pin to disguise it. Done and done — you’re ready to hit the gym, the office and the red carpet with this look. (Photo via Jun Sato/Getty)
Amy Forsyth took a totally different approach to this trend on The Path premiere’s red carpet. While Brie’s braid was fairly structured, Amy’s was more casual and intentionally messy. Her updo featured a small, loose bangs braid accentuated with some volume at the crown of her head. The beauty of this look is that it isn’t supposed to look perfect, so it’s hard to eff it up. And it’s a style that keeps on giving, because it looks better the longer you wear it. Hard to argue with that! (Photo via Alberto E. Rodriguez/Getty)
