These days, it seems like everyone in Hollywood has their own clothing line. There’s Paris Hilton for Boohoo, Cardi B x Fashion Nova, Jessica Biel’s athletic line for Gaiam, Kourtney Kardashian x Pretty Little Thing… need we go on? For all our celeb-approved options, however, we are still holding out for a few stars. Scroll through to find out which 10 celebs we wish would make our fashion dreams come true by creating their own collections.
Kate Middleton: If anyone deserves a fashion line, it’s Catherine Middleton. For the past seven years, nearly every outfit the Duchess of Cambridge has stepped out in has spawned a buying frenzy so strong, it even has its own name — The Kate Effect. Though the royal has had a stint on the runway (her strut during a fashion show for alma mater St. Andrews is said to be how she caught Prince William’s eye) and her own British Vogue cover, she has yet to launch her own fashion line. Blake Lively: Blake Lively has been pushing the style boundary for years, and without the help of a stylist because, as she told WWD, “I have control issues and a big ego. That’s probably the honest answer.” More than that, however, she’s interested in clothing. “I just like it. I love design and I love fashion, and it’s a way to be creative.” If that doesn’t sound like a designer-in-the-making, we don’t know what does. (Photo via Ethan Miller/Getty)
Janelle Monáe: Though Janelle Monáe can rock any color of the rainbow, the singer and actress largely seems to have a penchant for two colors in particular: black and white. Between the structural caped Marc Jacobs suit dress she wore to the 2018 MET Gala and the custom Giorgio Armani cupcake dress for the 2017 Golden Globes (above), we think she’d be the perfect collaborator on a White House Black Market collection. Elizabeth Olsen: Given the industry success of her sisters, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, we have no doubt that Elizabeth Olsen, with her free-spirited indie style, would be a natural at the family biz. Whether she struck out on her own on the advice of her siblings or even just did a capsule collection for The Row or Elizabeth and James, we’d love to see Olsen put her own signature spin on our wares. Krysten Ritter: As a not-so-secret avid knitter, Ritter already has her own line of kits with yarn retailer We Are Knitters. A full clothing line, comprised of nothing but handmade scarves and sweaters, would be a natural next step for the Jessica Jones star — if she could make time in between kicking some serious butt, superhero style! Busy Philipps and Michelle Williams: These two are not only partners in friendship — they’re also partners in style. How cool would it be for them to launch their own clothing line of coordinating apparel, just like the Veda BFF jackets they wore back in September, together? (Photo via Stephanie Cardinale/Getty)
Lady Gaga: Sure, Lady Gaga has her merch line with Urban Outfitters and a short-lived accessories line with Elton John, Love Bravery, but dare we even imagine what things might look like if she took it one step farther with her own label? Just picture the troves she could fill of hoof shoes and egg pods! Alas, as she told theNew York Post back in 2016, there’s a reason she hasn’t given us more. “The thing is, at the end of the day, I have a real respect for fashion designers,” she said. ”It’s the reason I don’t have my own fashion line and the reason I never will.” (Photo via Emma McIntyre/Getty)
Tiffany Haddish: Tiffany Haddish is singlehandedly changing how we think about style with her outlook on recycled clothing. She has worn her $4,000 Alexander McQueen halter dress with a jeweled neckline to no less three high-profile events, proclaiming, “I feel like I should be able to wear what I want, when I want, however many times I want, as long as I Febreeze it.” We’d love to see her with a line of upcycled goods or investment pieces that help others live out her eco-friendly mentality. Chloë Grace Moretz: Chloë Grace Moretz is already making her mark on the world of beauty as a partner for SKII, and we’ve got a sneaking suspicion it’s only a matter of time before she’s playing to our closets as well. While there’s no word on whether or not the young star got any design tips from her ex-boyfriend Brooklyn Beckham's mom, Victoria Beckham, while the two were dating, she did appear to at least get some of her fashion sense, and that’s good enough for us. Amal Clooney: With her uncanny ability to go from traditional to edgy and back again, there’s no doubt in our minds that Amal Clooney has all the savoir faire necessary to create her own line of high-end couture. In the meantime, however, we’ll settle for the next best thing: The lawyer’s sister, Tala Alamuddin, has a fashion line dubbed Totally Tala. (Photo via John Shearer/Getty)
