Chanel’s Plastic Rain Hats Will Cost You More Than $1K
The price of plastic is soaring these days — at least according to Céline and Chanel! Just days after Céline launched its own couture version of your run-of-the-mill plastic grocery bag, Chanel is answering right back with a high-end plastic piece all its own.
The company is offering up a designer PVC & grosgrain bucket hat that could run you upwards of 1K. Supermodel in the making Kaia Gerber debuted the look during the fashion house’s spring/summer 2018 presentation back in October, and now, it’s being offered to the masses online with a price tag is nothing to sniff at: this clear little beauty has a “suggested retail” price of $1,150. *Gulp*
Though the topper looks ordinary enough, with a bucket shape and black and white banded color selection, PVC *is* one of the biggest trends of the year, popping up everywhere from Kim Kardashian West’s lucite heels to Hailey Baldwin’s see-through, shower-curtain like trench.
As InStyle noted, the look is definitely gaining some traction on the streets of Paris, too, where many a fashionista has been spotted out and about in the hat.
But not to worry: If a splurge like this isn’t exactly in your budget, there IS a cheaper alternative: Say hello to Chanel’s cotton and PVC headband available for the low, low price of $550! Ay yi yi!
