For Your Traveling Needs, This Is the Cheapest Day to Fly This Summer
If you still haven’t planned that trip you’ve been meaning to take this summer, your procrastination is about to make your wallet very, very happy. According to FareCompare.com, one date in particular is the perfect date to get the best bang for your buck.
This year, that day is August 23. According to FareCompare, this “magic date” is different every year, but it’s always toward the end of August. Why? Because that’s when kids go back to school, so there are less people flying; airlines respond by lowering their rates to get more people traveling.
Of course, it’s important to shop around to get the most savings, as not all airlines have the same deals going on. However, overall, fares can drop during this time up to 15 to 20 percent. But be warned, travelers! You’ll want to jump on this quick, because after the *magical day*, you’ll have to wait until subsequent price drops: mid-to-late October, the first two weeks in November and after the first week of January through mid-to-late March, according to the website.
The magical day falls on a Tuesday this year — which also happens to usually be the cheapest day to fly — so make sure to take off work and plan that end-of-summer vacation of your dreams ASAP!
