Flights Will Be the Cheapest They’ve Been in 7 Years This Summer
If you were planning on hitting up on of the most pinned vacation destinations of 2016 or one of a million other amazing places, then we have the BEST travel news you’ll hear all season. Get ready to book your flight, because it turns out that this summer, flights will be the cheapest they’ve been in seven years. So take some time to learn from other female travelers’ mistakes, get some inspo from the most luxurious hotels in the world and start planning your getaway.
Globetrotters and occasional vacationers alike know that plane tickets don’t come cheap. But according to flight price-predicting app, Hopper, the cost of airfare is down 12 percent from last year and more than 20 percent from two years ago, not to mention currently at lower seasonal levels than they’ve been since way back in 2009. This means an average round-trip domestic flight purchased in June will cost just $240 and by September will cost a mere $207.
The current low cost of jet fuel is to thank for the cheaper flights and our bank accounts are certainly grateful! Hopper predicts that as fuel prices continue to drop through early 2017, plane tickets will get cheaper and cheaper.
If you aren’t sure which hot location to hit up first, take a look at Hopper’s grid of trending cities, based on user’s searches. Domestically, Chicago, Orlando and Boston are hot, and internationally, going down under is more popular than ever, with Sydney, Australia and Auckland, New Zealand leading the list.
