Chelsea Clinton Might Soon Be Following in Her Mother’s Political Footsteps
As we don our friendship safety pins and wait with bated breath to see if Hillary Clinton might still win the election (even if it is just a teensy tiny chance), there’s one piece of political news that just might have HRC supporters smiling (and no, it’s not the powerful secret message hidden in her concession speech).
According to the New York Post, 36-year-old Chelsea Clinton is “being groomed” to run for the seat in NYC’s 17th Congressional District if its current occupier, Democrat Nita Lowey, does indeed retire after this, her 14th term (as many are predicting). The District includes parts of Rockland County and Westchester County, as well as Chappaqua, which is, incidentally, where the Clintons currently live.
Chelsea supported her mom on this year’s arduous campaign trail (and delivered THE ultimate response to Trump’s “nasty woman” comment), so we have no doubt that the OG HRC would surely support her daughter wholeheartedly, even if a career in politics isn’t exactly what she had envisioned for her little girl. “While politics isn’t the life Hillary wanted for Chelsea, she chose to go on the campaign trail for her mother and has turned out to be very poised, articulate and comfortable with the visibility,” an unnamed source told the mag.
After all, although “the Clintons need some time to regroup after Hillary’s crushing loss, they will not give up,” the source added. “Chelsea would be the next extension of the Clinton brand,” they said. Very interesting, indeed!
So why Chappaqua? “Chappaqua is a logical place for Chelsea to run because it would be straightforward for her to raise money and build a powerful base.”
Hmm, this sure does sound promising! Guess we’ll just have to wait and see!
