You’ll Flip Over This Limited Edition Starbucks Frappuccino
For those of you who can’t wait til the first day of spring to swap your favorite Starbucks Frappuccino out for a venti Pike, listen up: The coffee giant has a brand-new, limited edition beverage that you’ll probably have every day this week.
The Cherry Blossom Frappuccino debuts today in honor of the National Cherry Blossom Festival in D.C., whose peak viewing days align with this frap’s availability. The cherry blossom is most famous in Japan, where it’s called sakura. Not surprisingly, the Japanese have had a Sakura Blossom + Strawberry Frappuccino and Latte on the menu since 2010.
The Japanese version is made from real cherry blossom petals and salt-preserved sakura tree leaves; the American version is a little more user-friendly, with a base of strawberries and cream with white chocolate and a matcha drizzle. This isn’t the first time that Starbucks Japan has dazzled us with their unique drinks and snacks — remember their Pumpkin Spice Latte sandwich? Hope this is a sign of more Japanese-inspired things to come!
