An Edible Arrangement That Doesn’t Suck
Let’s skip the freezer-burned cantaloupe and questionable strawberries and get straight to what really melts your mom’s heart: Chocolate. This weekend you can treat your mom to this edible flower arrangement that’s sweet and made by the one and only you! We know how much moms love handmade gifts, so try this quick and easy DIY for chocolate flowers.
Materials:
– colored chocolate melts
– lollipop sticks or cookie sticks
– a vase of some kind – we used a galvanized bucket but a large coffee mug or other vase would work too!
– green Easter grass or some other kind of filling for the vase
– piece of styrofoam
We found all of these items at a local craft store, but you can also try Amazon.
Start by melting the chocolate in the microwave. Start on half power for 60 seconds, stir, then 30 more seconds, stir until melted. If it hasn’t melted, keep heating in 30 second intervals – just make sure to keep your microwave at half power.
Place the lollipop or cookie sticks into the molds. Then spoon the melted chocolate into the molds. Gently tap the tray to remove any air bubbles.
Place the tray into the refrigerator and let solidify. About 15 minutes or until edges look slightly frosty. Gently twist the the chocolate lollipops out of the mold. Set aside. Rinse the mold tray with warm, soapy water and repeat with the other colors of chocolate.
Place the styrofoam into the bottom of the vase. Cover with grass filling. Arrange the chocolate flowers into the vases by sticking the stems into the styrofoam.
And there you have it! A sweet and fun chocolate arrangement for mom to enjoy! Don’t forget to get your mom a sweet card to go along with your gift. What is your mom’s favorite thing to receive on Mother’s Day? Tell us below!
