Social media can be a fun — if admittedly not always accurate! — way to sleuth out Hollywood relationships. We recently watched via Instagram as Brooklyn Beckham and Chloë Grace Moretz dropped hints about their rekindled coupledom, and all eyes are on Stranger Things‘ Charlie Heaton and Natalia Dyer‘s accounts as rumors of a relationship between them heat up too. Now, fans are starting to take note of some sneaky clues that Chris Evans and Jenny Slate may be back together — and we are so here for it.
It started last month, when the pair engaged in some adorable Twitter flirting. Slate called out the Captain America star on a joke about not doing his homework, to which he responded by suggesting that they “cut class” together. Also: She called him “Christopher.”

Then, earlier this week, Evans posted a video of his adorable dog, Dodger, barking along to a Lion King song. A woman can be heard laughing in the background, and fans are pretty sure they recognize the sound from Slate’s famous voice work.

The speculation intensified today, when Slate tweeted confirmation that she does indeed have a boyfriend, saying she loves that he supports her in unconventional ways.
“My boyfriend does many dreamy and generous things,” she wrote,” but number one in my mind right now is how he celebrates my new turtlenecks/lets me show him my online shopping spoils and cheers me on.” She didn’t name any names, but given the pair’s recent online activities, a lot of people are hoping that Evans is the BF in question.

Slate and Evans first started dating in May 2016 after meeting on the set of their movie Gifted, but they broke up in February after dating for less than a year. Things between them remained more than amicable, though: Slate, who had just finalized a divorce when she sparked up a romance with Evans, gave a glowing interview about his kindness, while Evans called Slate his “favorite human.”
At the time, Slate expressed her desire to be friends with Evans again one day — and at the very least, we’d say that is certainly the case.
