Chrissy Teigen Reveals She and John Legend Will Try for Baby No. 2 Soon!
Chrissy Teigen and John Legend welcomed their first child, little Luna Simone Stephens, via IVF back in April 2016, and in a new interview with InStyle, Teigen revealed they’ll soon attempt to get pregnant with their second child.
Teigen told the mag that she and Legend started with 20 embryos during their first IVF round — three of which were viable. “The first little girl didn’t work, and then the second is Luna,” she said. The third, she told the interviewer, will be transferred to her womb in the not-so-distant future.
Teigen has been open about her fertility struggles, and about her battle with postpartum depression, which she says she didn’t initially understand. “I thought I was just being a selfish a**hole,” she told InStyle, recalling how she spent days inside with the curtains drawn. “It wasn’t just a mental thing of, you know, ‘I’m sad.’ I actually couldn’t move.”
Since receiving a diagnosis and proper treatment, Teigen feels better but admits that she’s still not 100 percent back to her old self, and that she knows things might get worse again with a second birth.
“I have really good days and really bad days, and I don’t tend to talk about the really bad days,” she told the mag. “But I would hate for people to think those days didn’t exist.”
Teigen also shared that she wishes they’d extracted more eggs a few years ago, but she did not say whether she and Legend would consider additional fertility treatment in the future. In a recent interview about growing her family, she said she would “definitely adopt or have foster children.”
