Christian Louboutin’s Newest Nail Polish Is Outrageously Expensive
In recent years, manicures have taken on a life of their own. From nail art to foils and wraps, we’ve seen it all. No matter how crazy you get with your mani, it always comes back to one thing: quality polish. We’re down to spend a reasonable amount on polish if it means it’s not going to chip the next day, but the cost of Christian Louboutin’s newest nail polish is a little out of hand (pun fully intended).
The luxury brand received some flack after they released a polish for $50 back over the summer, but this makes that look like chump change. Rouge Louboutin, the latest addition to CL’s beauty department, is retailing for a whopping $675. Before you start to envision some magical nail polish that applies itself and doesn’t chip, you should know that the actual polish is the same as what comes in the $50 bottle.
The $625 increase comes instead from the bottle itself, which is covered in 1,500 hand-applied, two-tone Strass crystals (because who doesn’t need a crystal nail polish bottle, right?). The polish is displayed in a black lacquer box decorated with leather and crystal flowers, which definitely also helps to crank up the price tag.
Sure it’s glamorous, but if we’re going to drop over half a grand on nail polish, it’s going to have to do a little more than sparkle. Granted, they do advertise that the highly pigmented, super glossy formula delivers 20 layers worth of traditional lacquer in just two coats, but that’s something we’ll have to see to believe. For now, we might just throw some rhinestones on a few bottles of OPI and call it good.
What are your thought on this luxury lacquer? Would you ever spend this much on nail polish? Tell us what you think in the comments below.
