Coachella 2019: Ariana Grande, Childish Gambino, and Tame Impala Will Headline
It might feel too early to start planning for festival season, but Coachella has just revealed its 2019 lineup, and you’re probably going to want tickets. The two-weekend festival will take place on April 12, 13, and 14, and then again on April 19, 20, and 21, with Childish Gambino as the Friday night headliner, Tame Impala for Saturday, and Ariana Grande as Sunday’s headliner.
“Humbled and excited as all hell @coachella thank u,” Grande captioned the festival’s lineup on Instagram, adding a black heart and a cactus emoji.
In addition to the three major headliners, the festival promises a weekend full of amazing music: Janelle Monaé, the 1975, Bad Bunny, Solange, Kacey Musgraves, Khalid, and Billie Eilish will also take top spots throughout the weekend, as will Jaden Smith, Zedd, K-Pop sensations BLACKPINK, and Wiz Khalifa. And in a pleasant surprise, People magazine’s current Sexiest Man Alive Idris Elba will make an appearance with a DJ set both Sundays.
The festival dropped this year’s lineup shortly after TMZ reported that Kanye West would not be headlining due to disagreements about stage design. West has not yet commented on the report.
In 2018, Beyoncé returned to the Coachella lineup after being advised by doctors to cancel her 2017 performance, and delivered one of the most memorable performances of the year — including a Destiny’s Child reunion. It came to be known as Beychella.
Tickets for Coachella 2019 go on sale on Friday, January 4, at 11am PT.
