How to Make Ridiculously Colorful Spring Cookies
Spring is officially here and that means lots of fun color combinations. These cookies are one way to get creative with your colors. Instead of boring old sugar cookies, play them up with some neon food coloring for your next spring soirée!
Ingredients + Tools:
– 1 package of sugar cookie mix and any additional ingredients it may require.
– neon food coloring
– 1-2 tablespoons of flour
– mini cookie cutters
– parchment paper
Begin by mixing the cookie dough according to the package instructions. Preheat oven as directed. Next separate the dough into equal parts for each color you’d like. In separate bowls, mix in 4-6 drops of food coloring and mix until the desired color is reached.
Food Coloring Pro Tip: Red and pink dyes take less drops than blues and greens.
After the dough and food coloring is mixed, roll out the dough on a lightly floured surface. If you don’t have a round cookie cutter, use the top of a small glass cup.
Carefully remove the cut-outs from the center of the cookies. Mix and match all your favorites!
After you’ve mixed and matched, place the cookies in the freezer for 20-30 minutes or until they have hardened. The cold dough is less likely to spread while baking. That’s how the cookies keep their shape!
Bake for 8-10 minutes. Wait for the cookies to cool, then carefully remove them from the baking sheet.
Now you’ve got a colorful, spring treat! Enjoy!
