Watch Colton Underwood Meet His First Season 23 ‘Bachelor’ Contestants
Colton Underwood is the leading man for season 23 of The Bachelor, and even though he hasn’t officially started filming yet, he’s met three of the women who will be vying for his affection.
On Thursday’s episode of The Ellen DeGeneres Show, the host surprised Underwood by introducing him to his first contestants, Sydney, Annie, and Katie. The women competed in a game of “Know or Go,” which required them to answer questions in the hopes of impressing the former NFL player.
The questions ranged from the women’s best pick-up lines, to their ideal first dates, to their favorite things about Underwood. Annie seemed to pique the Bachelor’s interest by stating that she had seven dogs, knowing that he had two of his own and loves the four-legged creatures.
At one point, the contestants were tasked with naming the singer of the song “Like a Virgin,” a nod to the fact that Underwood himself is a virgin, which garnered him a lot of attention on Becca Kufrin’s season of The Bachelorette.
Both Sydney and Katie were eliminated for not being able to answer DeGeneres’ questions, and in the end, it was the dog-loving Annie who won a chance to come down and meet Underwood up close. Whether Underwood felt a spark with the contestant won’t be revealed until season 23 starts, but he did tell DeGeneres that he knows exactly what he’s looking for in a future wife.
“I need somebody who’s fun, spontaneous, outgoing,” he said. “Appearance wise, it’s sort of all across the board. But I just need somebody who’s a good person and somebody who could be a good mother.”
Additionally, the future Bachelor said that whoever earns his affections should be able to challenge him in healthy ways. “Just somebody who can continue to push me and allow me to grow and sort of take me out of my comfort zone at times,” he said. The Bachelor season 23 will premiere in January on ABC.
