Holiday Hack: Turn Classic Cookies into Cookie Christmas Trees
If you’ve been following us for a while, you know we love us a good cookie. Whether we’re tricking out the classic chocolate chip recipe, turning Oreos into panna cotta, truffles and turkeys, or creating Girl Scout Cookie cream cups, we can’t get enough of the sweet stuff. And now we’ve taken it upon our shortcut chef selves to turn your favorite cookies into Christmas trees.
For our cookie trees, we went to the supermarket and stocked up on the cookies listed below. You can definitely use different cookies as well as homemade though!
<br/>
– Lemon Tea Shortbread Cookies– Snickerdoodles
– Golden Oreos
– Nilla Wafers
– Nutter Butter Bites
– Green Sparkle Gel Icing
– White Sugar Pearl Sprinkles
– White Chocolate Chips
Organize your cookies according to size.
Place your shortbread cookie on your “cooking” surface. Squeeze a ring of gel icing on the outer top edge of the cookie. Press down the next cookie – in our case, this was a snickerdoodle. Squeeze another ring and add your next cookie, and repeat until you get to the top.
Top with a white chocolate chip as your star and let the icing set for a few minutes.
Repeat with as many trees as you like!
Now it’s time to add your ornaments. We love Wilton’s Sugar Pearl sprinkles because they really do look like little pearls! We did two rows of ornaments on the outer edge of our trees.
And that's it! You're done! Simple as pie, right? Well, come to think of it… pie is way less simple than this :)
