Why We’re Crushing on the CraftBot 3D Printer
You know we love 3D printers over here, even more so when there’s a new one out there that we think could be The One. You know, The One you and your family actually make room for in your office, playroom or kitchen. Our current uber cool, surprisingly affordable 3D printing crush right now is the CraftBot 3D printer.
The makers of CraftBot took all of our favorite features from other 3D printers, such as usability and affordability, to create the state-of-the-art at-home printer. The CraftBot comes with its own free downloadable 3D software aptly called “Craftware,” that puts the power of printing in the hands of adults and kids alike. Yes, kids too — the $499 printer proved to be a favorite among the kiddie set after it was tested at an elementary school.
Guess what? Despite its small frame the CraftBot can actually print large objects (about 10 x 8 x 8 inches)! No Shrinky Dinks over here. Also, no injuries; the CraftBot features a removable heated build platform, so you don’t have to reach inside the printer to remove your finished object.
The CraftBot has already met 199% of its $40,000 crowd-funding goal (yes, you read that right) at Indiegogo, but there’s still time to support the cause + get your hands on one of the first pre-production CraftBot 3D printers. The coveted $399 VIP early bird pricing is sold out, but you can still get it for around $499 with a projected delivery date of September 2014.
What would you print with the CraftBot 3D printer? Can you see splurging on a 3D printer for you or your family? Share your ideas with us in the comments!
