‘Crazy Ex-Girlfriend’ Has Something Special Planned for Its Grand Finale
Crazy Ex-Girlfriend intends to go out in a blaze of glory when it wraps its fourth and final season this spring. In addition to the series finale on April 5, the show is planning to say goodbye with a splashy concert special.
Yes, It’s Really Us Singing: The Crazy Ex-Girlfriend Concert Special! will feature co-creator and star Rachel Bloom and other cast members performing live versions of popular songs from the series. A live band and orchestra will accompany the singers.
“The songwriters of Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, Rachel Bloom, Jack Dolgen, and Adam Schlesinger, have written more than 150 outstanding songs in our four seasons. It is an unprecedented contribution to the American songbook,” co-creator and showrunner Aline Brosh McKenna said in a statement. “I’m so thrilled we can share those songs with the world in a spontaneous format that really showcases their humor and genius.”
Bloom later took to Twitter to share the news with fans, and to let them know how they can score free tickets to attend the special taping, which will take place in mid-March in Los Angeles.
The special follows a sold-out Crazy Ex-Girlfriend live tour that hit cities across the country last year. At the time, Bloom spoke about the difference in performing for a live audience vs. a camera crew. “There is nothing like performing musical comedy live,” she told Entertainment Weekly. “It’s not just a performance, it’s an ongoing dialogue between the performers and the audience.”
