Crazy Rich Asians, based on Kevin Kwan's best-selling novel of the same name, is one of the most anticipated movies of the summer, and its ensemble cast is about to become the talk of the town. The film is a landmark in Hollywood: Even in 2018, Asian actors see very few lead roles, and an Asian-majority cast is all but unheard of. While the sprawling international film indeed features of some of today's top talent, it also features many Hollywood newcomers, so click through to meet some of the movie's many stars — and then see them in theaters on August 15. Constance Wu: Wu, who plays leading lady Rachel Chu, is most famous for her role as Jessica Huang on ABC's acclaimed sitcom Fresh Off the Boat. But you can also watch her in the web series Eastsiders — the first three seasons are on Netflix. (Photo via Sanja Bucko/Warner Bros. Pictures)
Henry Golding: Starring opposite Wu is the disarmingly handsome Henry Golding, who is making his feature film debut after previously appearing as a travel host on BBC and other stations. Golding plays Rachel's wealthy boyfriend Nick Young in Crazy Rich Asians. You'll also see him on the big screen in the upcoming film A Simple Favor with Blake Lively and Anna Kendrick. Michelle Yeoh: Yeoh plays Eleanor Young, Nick's mother, who disapproves of his relationship with Rachel. You may recognize her from roles in Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, the James Bond film Tomorrow Never Dies, and CBS' Star Trek: Discovery, where she plays Captain Philippa Georgiou. Lisa Lu: Lu plays Shang Su Yi, Nick's grandmother. She's had a long and rich career both in the US and overseas, with memorable roles in General Hospital, The Last Emperor, Noble House with Pierce Brosnan, and The Joy Luck Club. (Photo via Sanja Bucko/Warner Bros. Pictures)
Gemma Chan: Chan — who plays Astrid Leong, Nick's worldly, beautiful cousin — has an extensive film and TV résumé that includes 2016's Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, 2017's Transformers: The Last Knight, 2014's Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit, and the hit UK show Humans. She's also set to appear in the upcoming Mary Queen of Scots and Captain Marvel movies. (Photo via Sanja Bucko/Warner Bros. Pictures)
Ronny Chieng: Chieng plays Eddie Cheng, Nick's status-obsessed cousin. You might recognize him from The Daily Show, where he flexed his comedic chops as a senior correspondent. (Photo via Sanja Bucko/Warner Bros. Pictures)
Remy Hii and Fiona Xie: Hii is a star in his native Australia for his role on the soap opera Neighbours. He also appeared in the Netflix original series Marco Polo. In Crazy Rich Asians, he plays Eddie's brother and Nick and Astrid's cousin Alistair.
Singaporean actress and host Xie is making her Hollywood debut in CRA. She plays Kitty Pong, Alistair's (and Bernard’s, oops) status-chasing girlfriend. (Photo via Sanja Bucko/Warner Bros. Pictures)
Nico Santos: Fans of NBC's hit sitcom Superstore will recognize Santos as Cloud Nine sales clerk Mateo. In Crazy Rich Asians, he plays Oliver, Nick's second cousin. (Photo via Sanja Bucko/Warner Bros. Pictures)
Awkwafina: The Ocean's 8 scene-stealer and former MTV Girl Code host — real name Nora Lum — stars as Goh Peik Lin, Rachel's best friend from college. (Photo via Sanja Bucko/Warner Bros. Pictures)
Ken Jeong: Jeong, who plays Peik Lin's father, likely needs no introduction. After smaller roles in projects including Knocked Up and Pineapple Express, he became a bonafide star with bigger parts in popular comedies such as Community and — somewhat controversially — The Hangover. Coming up, he's slated to appear in six (!) other films currently in post-production, including Departures, with Game of Thrones' Maisie Williams, and the Goosebumps movie. Pierre Png: Png plays Astrid's husband Michael. This will be the Hollywood feature-film debut for the award-winning Singaporean actor. (Photo via Sanja Bucko/Warner Bros. Pictures)
Harry Shum Jr.: The Glee alum appears as Charlie, Astrid's ex-fiancé. He also currently stars as Magnus on Freeform's Shadowhunters and has danced on screen in multiple Step Up films, Center Stage: Turn It Up, and The LXD: The Legion of Extraordinary Dancers. (Photo via Mike Windle/Getty Images)
Chris Pang: Pang, another alum of Netflix's Marco Polo, plays Colin, Nick's childhood best friend. It's Colin's wedding that brings Nick and Rachel to Singapore in the first place. (Photo via Sanja Bucko/Warner Bros. Pictures)
Sonoya Mizuno: Mizuno plays Colin's fiancée, Araminta. You may have seen her face in Calvin Klein and Ivy Park campaigns, or in films including Ex Machina, La La Land (as one of Emma Stone's roommates), and Beauty and the Beast. (Photo via Sanja Bucko/Warner Bros. Pictures)
Jimmy O. Yang: You likely recognize Yang — who plays Bernard Tai, Nick and Colin's former classmate — as the show-stealing villain Jian-Yang on HBO's Silicon Valley. He also recently starred alongside Melissa McCarthy in Life of the Party and will next appear in The Happytime Murders, again with McCarthy. (Photo via Sanja Bucko/Warner Bros. Pictures)
Jing Lusi: Starring as Mandy Ling, Nick's NYC socialite ex-girlfriend, is Lusi, who's probably best known for her work in the UK drama Stan Lee's Lucky Man. (Photo via Ian Gavan/Getty Images)
