Create This Colorful Custom Candy Recipe with Jolly Ranchers & Cookie Cutters
Love all those super colorful fun-shaped candies you see in old school candy stores? You know, the ones shaped like hearts, stars, clovers, and the like. Well it turns out it’s pretty easy to design your very own colorful hard candies, and all you need is a bag of Jolly Ranchers, a few cookie cutters, a hammer, and an oven!
Materials:
– Jolly Ranchers
– mini cookie cutters
– cooking spray
– cookie sheet
– aluminum foil
– ziploc bags
– hammer
– oven!
First, preheat your oven to 300 degrees F.
Now, time to crush those jollies. Grab four jolly ranchers, unwrap and place in a ziploc. Hammertime!
Repeat with your other colors.
To prep your cookie sheet and cutters, place aluminum foil over the cookie sheet. Spray with cookie spray or use a paper towel to cover with a thin layer of vegetable oil. Do the same on the insides of each cookie cutter.
If your cutters have any kind of lip on one side, be sure to place the flattest side down on the cookie sheet.
Use a spoon, tongs, or simply pour the jolly rancher bits into each cookie cutter. We did a mix of solids and mixed.
You want to fill each cutter about halfway with candy.
Place in the oven for about 5 minutes – or until fully melted. We recommend keeping your eye on the oven to make sure you don’t overheat, which can cause bubbles.
Take out and let cool! Then pop out using a knife or your finger. Voila!
Lay them out on a platter, use as cupcake toppers, or place in plastic goodie bags.
Or set them up by your window and create your very own Candyland. ;)
