View the Curly Hair Emoji Coming to Your Phone
Emojis are practically a primary form of communication these days. If you’ve ever sent an emoji to a friend and wished it actually looked like you, you’re definitely not alone. After all, not everyone has straight blonde hair. A recent Dove hair study from Edelman Berland found that 82 percent of curly-haired ladies say they want to see more emoji options that actually look like them. So Dove came to the rescue and created “Love Your Curls Emojis,” a keyboard of 27 curly-hair designs in conjunction with Snaps, a cross-platform brand marketing company.
“One in three women in the United States have curly or wavy hair, yet there are zero images of these women today in the increasingly common language of emojis,” says Rob Candelino, VP of Haircare at Unilever. “That felt wrong to us, so we are fixing it and hope by doing so, we will continue inspiring all women to love their curls.”
Here’s the best part: The emojis’ hair color and skin tone are adjustable, so you can create a mini version of yourself. The selectable feature makes it possible to create an impressive 131 different looks from your keyboard, and seven GIFs are also available for extra fun.
The emojis can be used in iMessage, texts, Facebook messenger and WhatsApp. To celebrate today’s launch of the emojis, Dove Hair is partnering with Twitter so that every time you share a #LoveYourCurls moment, you’ll get a custom Dove Curly Emoji auto-generated with your tweet.
Consider yourself officially distracted at work now.
