3 Bike Shops That Let You Customize Your Wheels
We’ve been on a bit of a biking kick recently. Maybe it’s the nice weather or the bike share programs that keep popping up across the country. Whatever it is, we’re in full on biking mode with bike gadgets, baskets, and ways to make your bike stand out from the crowd. But the ultimate way to make your bike an original is to, well, design it yourself. We’re not talking about choosing gears, brakes, or whatevers, instead we’re talking about making your bike look just the way you want it to. Here are three ways you can customize your two-wheeled ride.
Designing your ride in the Urban Outfitters bike shop is basically like playing a game. Choose from four different frame styles and get started. Their 3D bike tool lets you automatically update the colors of each component— from the frame and the chaincase to the saddle and the handlebar grips. And the colors are incredible. We might have had a bit too much fun playing around with the tool. Check out this one:
And another one, this time with a basket!
Villy Custom Bikes
If a cruiser is more your speed, check out Villy Custom Bikes. Similarly to Urban Outfitters, you can design your ideal bike right on the site, but you’ll have different frame options to start with—two styles for men and two styles for women. One of our favorite features about Villy is that they offer patterned seats (check out the floral pattern above), matte frames, and…neon! You know we love that option.
While they might not have the technology to show you a 3D rendering of your bike as you change the colors and features, Mission Bicycle has just as many options for customization as both Urban Outfitters and Villy Custom Bikes. They are also incredibly knowledgeable about bikes and how to find the right one. Their bike builder site will walk you through picking the right size and features depending on how you intend to ride. If you need a little inspiration when it comes to the cosmetics of ordering your Mission Bicycle, check out their gallery of designs.
Since the Urban Outfitters Bike Shop and Villy Custom Bikes make it really easy to share your creation, we want to see what you’ve come up with. Head to the site and create your dream bike (or the craziest combination you can come up with!) and tweet us the link with the hashtag #britcobike, and you could win a free Brit Kit. Tweet your design by noon PST on Friday, June 21st, and we’ll pick a winner at random Friday afternoon. We’ll be sharing our favorite bike designs, too.
