The One Type of Cutout That Celebs Can’t Stop Wearing
The cutout trend (which we saw at The Grammy Awards) is one you might have thought would have its moment and go away, but nope. Cutouts — yes, even under-boob cutouts (see Laverne Cox rock a cutout dress at the amfAR Gala) — are here to stay. With spring coming, stars are amping up their flirty style game. What trend are we spotting them flaunting? The shoulder cutout — better known as one of spring 2016’s fashion trends, the cold-shoulder look. The shoulder is something that can be both highly stylized and more casual than your usual red carpet cutouts. Here are three celebs to give you warm feelings about this cool style.
1. Gal Gadot: Take Wonder Woman herself at the Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice premiere last week in a gorgeous, heavily embroidered, bare shoulder mini dress. The look slayed the black carpet and worked as a great example of the dressy side of the boho look. With a heavily embellished dress, Gadot went more casual with her hair and makeup. 2. Julianne Hough: For a look that we’d rock in the office, check out Julianne Hough’s rose pink shoulder cutout that she wore to a recent event at Lord & Taylor. Like Gal Gadot, Julianne rocked tousled hair and breezy makeup, letting the dress speak for itself. This rosy number is the perfect day-to-night option that can be amped up with a little extra lipstick or a dramatic cat eye. (Photo via Cindy Ord/Getty)
3. Khloé Kardashian: While promoting her Kocktails withKhloé show, Khloé Kardashian, who’s basically able to rock anything including a paper bag, recently showed off her gorgeous army green Thierry Mugler dress with a more structured cutout. While Khloé paired this dress with heels and a glam Samurai-style topknot, this dress could look great with a low-key shoe and more casual hair for a Sunday brunch or even a bridal shower. To rock the shoulder cutout like the celebs above, look for a silhouette that you are already in love with (body con, boho, etc). You aren’t limited to dresses either. This spring cutout tees, sweaters and blouses are available, so you can pair a cutout with your favorite jeans or skirt. The whole point is to bring a little skin to whatever your wearing. This look is so versatile that you don’t have to worry about accessories. Either load up on your favorites or just go without.
