Star Wars’ Daisy Ridley Just Got the Best Birthday Present Ever
Unless you’re Kendall Jenner, you’re probably used to celebrating your birthday over a few drinks with friends, dinner with family or by kicking your heels up at your local watering hole. But Daisy Ridley isn’t your typical 23 — wait, make that 24! —year-old. Aside from being the leading lady in the biggest movie of the year (ahem, Star Wars: The Force Awakens), Daisy also spent her latest birthday (April 9) in a pretty epic way: by attending (and winning!) the award for “Best Breakthrough Performance” at tonight’s MTV Movie Awards.
Daisey celebrated by posting this sweet photo on Instagram alongside the caption, “Bringing in my 24th year with JJ [PS, that’d be the Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ J.J. Abrams] @ MTV Movie Awards! Thank you so much to everyone who voted for Breakthrough and Movie!!!”

In her acceptance speech, Daisy gave a nod to the movie’s diverse casting, saying that it felt “especially amazing to be part of a film that represents all genders, all races and all ages in a positive and aspirational way.” Here, here! We couldn’t have said it better ourselves!
Congrats to you, Daisy! And HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
