This OITNB Star Is Starting a New Purple Hair Trend You Haven’t Seen Before

Whether it’s cotton candy pink, slime green or a sweet shade of lavender, no color is off limits when it comes to hair these days. In fact, the bolder the better. Case in point: sand art hair (yes, that’s a thing). But for those who are tentative to take the rainbow hair plunge because you think it will be too much, we recommend you take one look at Orange Is the New Black actress Dascha Polanco’s new ‘do.
Polanco debuted purple hair on the red (er, orange) carpet of OrangeCon, an invitation-only event in NYC in which fans had the opportunity to meet the show’s cast members, hear panel discussions and more. Now, don’t get us wrong, we love a pastel dye job as much as the next girl, but we’re totally swooning over Polanco’s deeper shade of purple. Her sexy vintage wave paired with the rich hue is definitive proof that colored hair can indeed look sophisticated.
This actually isn’t the first time Polanco has dipped her tresses in purple. Back in September of last year she rocked granny hair with a light purple ombré into the tips. If rainbow hair is Polanco’s go-to look for her show’s off season, we can’t wait to see what color comes next.
