Demi Lovato Throws Shade at Taylor Swift’s #GirlSquad for Not Having “Normal Bodies”
There’s certainly no love lost between Demi Lovato and Taylor Swift. And though Taylor may still be embroiled in her feud with Kim & Kanye AND the other one with Katy Perry, she may now need to add Demi to the list in a bad (blood?) way. That’s because Demi just threw some serious shade at Taylor for a few reasons, but one in particular: Demi claims that Taylor and her super famous #girlsquad don’t have “normal bodies,” and that it’s a problem.
While chatting with Glamour for their November issue, Demi was asked about Taylor Swift and feminism… and Lovato did NOT hold back. “I think in certain situations, certain people could be doing more if they’re going to claim that as part of their brand.”
She continued, “To be honest, and this will probably get me in trouble, I don’t see anybody in any sort of squad that has a normal body. It’s kind of this false image of what people should look like. And what they should be like, and it’s not real… It’s not realistic.”
She also went on to tackle Taylor’s feud with Katy Perry and how it reflects false feminism in her eyes. “I think that having a song and a video about tearing Katy Perry down, that’s not women’s empowerment. We all do things that aren’t, but I have to ask myself, ‘Am I content with calling myself a feminist?’ Yes, because I speak out.”
With both her #girlsquad (who is usually quick to come to her rescue) and her feminism under fire (and not for the first time), we have to wonder if Taylor will keep quiet or decide to speak out this time around.
