You Can Now Bring Your Pooch to the Happiest Place on Earth
The Happiest Place on Earth just got a little happier! As of tomorrow, October 15, dogs will officially be welcome at the House of Mouse!
While animals will not be allowed in the theme parks, four of the the park’s resort properties, including the Art of Animation Resort, the Port Orleans Riverside Resort, the Yacht Club Resort, and Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort, have been deemed a-okay for four-legged friends to stay in exchange for a $50 to $75 per night cleaning fee.
Up to two dogs can stay in each room, and guests will have access to special pet walkways and pet relief areas on the property. Pet owners will also receive a welcome kit chock full of dog-friendly goodies, including a pet ID tag, puppy pads, and dog walking maps, upon check-in.
If you’re worried about Fido being stuck alone in his or her room during days spent taking in the sights at the Magic Kingdom, Epcot, or any other non pet-friendly areas, the resort also has an on-property pet resort called Best Friends Pet Care, where owners can board their dogs for the day.
Those without pups won’t be much affected, as furry buddies will be designated to select floors to accommodate guests with allergies. Dogs must also be properly vaccinated and leashed in public areas.
Look for accompanying merchandise in the near future, and in the meantime, contact 407-W-DISNEY for more info.
