Forget Flower Crowns! Here’s How to DIY a Choker
To quote Taylor Swift, “I feel like maybe chokers are the new flower crowns?” Personally, flower crowns will always have a special place in my heart, but given that Taylor Swift and her squad mates Gigi Hadid and Martha Hunt are donning chokers more and more, I would say this ’90s throwback accessory is back in style.
CLASSIC ’90s STRETCH CHOKER
Raise your hand if you wore at least one of these bad boys every day in elementary school. (I raised both of my hands.) I remember seeing Melissa Joan Hart in Sabrina the Teenage Witch sporting one of these and then begging my parents to buy me some so I could look just like her. Little did I realize that they’re *SO* easy to make! This is how I did it:
Materials:
— 1 yard stretch cord (you probably won’t need this much, but having extra never hurts)
— scissors
— tape
Instructions:
1. Fold the stretch cord in half and tape the loop down on a flat surface.
2. Take the piece on the left and loop it over the right piece. Tuck the left piece through the opening and pull until the loop is at the top.
3. Take the piece on the right and loop it over the left piece. Tuck the right piece through the opening and pull until the loop is at the top.
4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 until you have a chain that’s about 9-11 inches long.
5. Remove the tape from the chain and tie the loose ends around the loop. Trim the excess cord.
All done! Boo-ya!

— ½ yard of velvet ribbon (½ inch thick)
— ½ inch jewelry fasteners
— pliers
Instructions:
1. Attach a jewelry fastener on each end of the ribbon with pliers. Wrap around your neck and tie a bow.

That’s literally it! Your neck is bangin’!
SUEDE WRAP CHOKER
This choker is also so unbelievably easy! Celebs like Vanessa Hudgens are rocking this style on the daily, and creating this accessory is as effortless as it looks. This choker only required a few materials and will only take minutes to create. Once finished, wrap it around your neck to instantly add boho-chic vibes to your look.
Materials and Tools:
— ½ yard of suede lace
— 2 jewelry clasps
— 2 pendants
— pliers
Instructions:
1. Attach a jewelry clasp on each of the suede lace ends with pliers.
2. Attach a pendant on each of the clasps.
3. Wrap around your neck like a scarf, with the two long ends dangling.
4. Tie the long ends together.

Guys, chokers are da bomb! Should I stop with the ’90s slang? As if!
