Use This Home Decor Item to Upgrade Your Patio’s Hammock

Move over, She Sheds — backyard oases are my new favorite spaces. You wanna know why? When done right, it’s like a mini vacation away from home! (Staycations, y’all!) I recently updated my small city space by adding an outdoor garden and great seating for guests. If my backyard was a little bigger, my next step would be to add a cozy zen area to cuddle up in the sun with a book. Now I don’t know about you, but I believe the best backyard accessory for cozy book time is a hammock! Follow along below to see how I created my dream hammock by turning an Amazon hammock into an Anthropologie wannabe.

Materials and Tools:

Let’s get started!

Remove the top hem of all four curtains.

Glue the top of the curtain to the outer edges of both sides of the hammock.

Each side of the hammock will require two curtains — overlap the curtains and glue the side hems together so they act like one piece.

Make tassels from cotton twine and tie onto the bottom pendants of the curtain. Not sure how to make a tassel? Follow our tassel tutorial right here.

Say hello to your new bohemian oasis! This hammock will definitely turn your patio into an Anthropologie catalog.

Now, tassels do take a while to make. If you have enough time or Netflix to catch up on, add a tassel to each pendant of the curtain. If not, add a tassel every few pendants ;)
