A denim jacket is the ultimate closet staple. This summer, take it up a notch with a technicolored patch that screams, "Hello, summer!" The following fashion DIY is a breeze to complete and even easier to wear. Click through to see how you can create this sun-print statement jacket for your next happy hour or outdoor concert.
You'll need: paint and water, paintbrush, foam core, stencil (acrylic works best), spray bottle, cotton piece of fabric, embroidery thread, needle
Instructions: 1.Choose your piece of fabric for the patch and cut to size. Lay it on the foam core and spray with water.
2.Mix your paint of choice with water at a 1:1 ratio.
3.Paint an ombré effect on your fabric by layering on one strip of color at a time. (Pro tip: Use a wide brush.)
4.Place stencil in desired location. Pin if necessary.
5.Allow patch to dry for several hours. Remove stencil. Hand wash any additional dye out. Dry on gentle.
6.Trim edges of the patch for neatness.
7.Sew onto jacket using embroidery thread.
8.Throw your jacket on like a true fashionista.
