We’re sure all is forgiven.
This Is Why Drew Barrymore Had an ‘I *Heart* Jake Gyllenhaal’ Sign on the Red Carpet

When Drew Barrymore hit the red carpet on Thursday, March 22, to celebrate the premiere of Santa Clarita Diet season 2, she was carrying an unusual accessory: an “I *Heart* Jake Gyllenhaal” sign. And while that may seem like a nice (if strange) thing to do, she wasn’t necessarily doing it just to be nice.
During an appearance on The Late Late Show With James Corden this week, Barrymore played the dreaded (but hilarious) Spill Your Guts or Fill Your Guts game. At one point, she was given a choice between ranking her costars by talent or… eating a turkey testicle.
Barrymore chose to answer the question rather than chow down. (TBH, we don’t blame her! As much as we love our friends, we’re not sure we’d be able to eat a turkey testicle just to help them save face.) The three costars she had to rank were Gyllenhaal (Donnie Darko), Hugh Grant (Music and Lyrics) — who actually thinks that Barrymore hated him “a bit” when they worked together — and Adam Sandler (The Wedding Singer, 50 First Dates, and Blended).
Not surprisingly, her three-time costar Sandler ranked at the top of the list, with Grant in second place and Gyllenhaal coming in last. “When I run into him next time, I’ll be like, ‘Dude, it was selling you down the river or eating turkey’s balls,'” she joked. “I’m sorry, Jake, it was the turkey testicles!”
After the show, Barrymore decided to take her apology one step further, which is why she showed up to her premiere with a sign that clearly read, “I ❤️ JAKE GYLLENHAAL.” As she posed for pics, she proudly held the message so that it couldn’t be missed.
Gyllenhaal has yet to respond to the silly situation, but we’re sure all will be forgiven once he spots Barrymore’s red carpet message.
