This Easy Cat Costume Will Make You Win Halloween Meow
Calling all cat ladies: We have the purrrfect Halloween costume for you. Enter the OG cat costume, a look that’s beyond-easy to throw together in a pinch. Using supplies you probably already have laying around your house, you can create this low-effort, high-impact look in a couple of minutes using a few key accessories and juuust the right makeup. Trust us, you’re guaranteed to be the cutest kitty in town.
To get this furry look we purchased this Lovaru Shaggy Faux Fur Coat ($26) on Amazon and paired it with a pink shirt and tan pants. (This jacket is a great buy since it can be repurposed as an everyday jacket after Halloween has passed!) For accessories, you’ll need gloves, a headband, and a little bit of felt.
We made the cat paws by cutting out paw pads from pink felt and hot gluing them to the gloves. Make the ears by cutting diamonds out of the brown felt, wrapping them around the headband and hot gluing the ends together. For the inside of the ears, cut little triangles out of the pink felt and hot glue to the ears.
We found a tail in the scrap box at our local craft store. If you can’t find a scrap, any furry fabric tucked into your belt loop will do the trick. For the makeup, use a long-wear gel eyeliner, like this NARS Larger Than Life Long-Wear Eyeliner ($26), to cover the tip of your nose. Draw a line from the bottom center of your nose to your top lip. Then fill in just your top lip and use the same eyeliner to dot a few spots on your cheeks. Add a dramatic cat-eye (how appropriate!), a set of fake eyelashes, and you’re set.
To re-create this wild and curly mane, use a 1/2-inch wand curling iron and curl small sections around your head. Don’t hold back on the hairspray, and go for maximum volume.
