There have been rumors going around about Ed Sheeran being engaged, according to his buddy (and potential secret-spiller), Russell Crowe, as well as about him quitting music soon to focus on having a family, according to another source close to the celeb. Now, the 26-year-old singer himself has something to say about his relationship status with his lady love, Cherry Seaborn.
Addressing the recent engagement rumors on Australia’s Fitzy & Wippa radio show, Sheeran referred to the buzz that was sparked by Crowe referring to Seaborne as Sheeran’s “fiancée.” “You know, he’s only met Cherry once and I didn’t introduce her. I didn’t say anything. I think he just assumed.” While we have to stop for a moment and wonder *why* Sheeran didn’t introduce his lady (etiquette faux pas?), the singer was more concerned about clearing things up, stating for the record: “No, we’re not engaged.”
Though the “Shape of You” singer may not have popped the question yet to his former high school friend and GF of a year and a half, we can’t help but wonderful if a proposal is imminent. We certainly wouldn’t be surprised if we heard the happy news from Sheeran himself sooner rather than later.
