WTF: You Can Feast on an Edible Balloon at This Chicago Restaurant
Sorry, raindrop cake. There’s another trending dessert on the market that we’re dying to try: edible balloons. The festive delicacy can be found at three-Michelin-star restaurant Alinea in Chicago.
The innovative treat was created by Chef Grant Achatz and is actually made out of green apple flavored taffy. The taffy is carefully filled with helium and the “string” is made of a dehydrated apple. So, the entire thing is edible.
The restaurant recommends you pop the balloon with your tongue and suck the helium out first. FYI, singing a silly song in a very high-pitched voice is totally allowed at this fancy dining establishment.
