Spike Your Sweets: Make These Eggnog Pudding Shots Recipe
Love it or hate it, egg nog is the known for being THE quintessential holiday drink. And whether you spike yours with brandy, rum or bourbon…we here at Brit + Co. are certain you will adore this creative take on the tipsy classic.
Ingredients: (makes 12-14 large shots)
– 3/4 cup cold egg nog
– 1 small box vanilla instant pudding
– 1/2 cup cream based liqueur (such as Caramel Bailey’s)
– 1/4 cup brandy, rum or bourbon
– 1 (8 ounce) tub extra creamy Cool Whip, thawed in refrigerator
– sprinkle of nutmeg (freshly grated is best!)
The recipe is similar to our other pudding shot concoctions (hello Pudding Pops!), but instead of cold milk…we substituted egg nog.
Being the pudding shot experts that we are, we always suggest using at least one cream-based liqueur such as Bailey’s to help keep a more pudding-like consistency. (Caramel or Hazelnut Bailey’s would be perfect here!) For the other alcohol…use either brandy, rum or bourbon.
Using an electric mixer, combine cold egg nog with instant pudding mix, and slowly add both alcohols until fully incorporated and lumps are gone (about 2 minutes). (Remember…because of the alcohol, mixture will be slightly “runnier” than normal pudding).
That’s where the extra creamy Cool Whip comes in! Gently *fold* in Cool Whip (don’t whisk, and avoid over-stirring) until everything is smooth and mixed together. Refrigerate or freeze until ready to serve. (Freezer for a soft-serve effect, fridge for more of a pudding consistency).
Now, sure…you could use regular ol’ plastic shot glasses. But if you’re serving these for a classy holiday party, try this super easy presentation. Using kitchen twine or ribbon, fasten small demitasse spoons to glass shot glasses.
Spoon pudding into glasses and top with a sprinkle of freshly grated nutmeg. Egg nog will never be the same!
